An introduction to portraiture. suitable for all levels

 

Learning new techniques of portraiture with artist Katherine Bryan-Merrett. This exciting workshop looks at colour, light and tone  - the three most important factors of portraiture. Using soft chalk pastels Katherine will guide you through a step by step process of creating your own portrait, then moving on to allow you to experiment with the medium for yourself. Portraiture is often thought of as one of the hardest subjects, this workshop breaks down any initial fears and gives you the skills to explore portraiture more deeply and freely for yourself.

Katherine offers a variety of art workshops and tuition. Whether you are a group or an individual, for a whole day or just an hour there is something to suit everyone

5 day portrait workshop for beginners

 

This workshop course takes you through simple stages of looking at portraiture. From basic sketching and shading through to full colour portrait painting. Using a variety of mediums; Katherine takes you through easy to follow stages making portraiture fun for everyone. The workshop is suitable for all levels, with a focus on easy techniques.

 

Katherine is a self-confessed lazy artist and has worked for over a decade in finding simple techniques for creating stunning portraits. These workshops are about getting a bit messy, freeing up and getting stuck in. If you are not a confident painter/ sketcher, Katherine ensures that by the end of the course you will be full of confidence and thoroughly inspired.

 

Sea and landscape workshops

 

Using a variety of mediums Katherine explores different techniques to create beautiful landscape and seascape paintings or drawings.

 

These workshops are great outdoors, from your venue making the most of a wonderful view or can be done indoors. We explore texture colour and light.

 

Workshops are generally tailored to suit your requirement and can be as focused or as open as you want them to be. Katherine always inspires creativity and experimentation with known catch phrases such as "just have a go" and "get in there and make a mess" they are fun and enjoyable for all levels and ages.
